1000 waterproof ground mats, 1000 quilts and 1000 tins of ghee (local cooking oil) distributed to the newest arrivals at Jalozai.

480 weatherproof tarpaulin tents distributed to families living under plastic bin-liners at Jalozai.

3774 weatherproof tarpaulin tents, 14000 waterproof ground mats and 14000 clay water pitchers distributed to families at Jalozai.

1700 weatherproof tarpaulin tents distributed to families at Jalozai.

An emergency mobile medical unit also purchased to ferry the sick to and from the clinics and for the worst cases to the local hospital in Peshawar.

Two specialist medical clinics set up to complement the UNHCR basic health units at the camps, one at Jalozai camp and one at New Shamshatu camp, in association with Child Advocacy International.

A full-time paediatrician and full-time obstetrician employed to try to combat alarmingly high rates of infant and maternal deaths in the camps.

Inauguration of the first and only delivery room at New Shamshatu fully equipped with an ultrasound machine, resuscitation equipment and incubator.

250 quilts, 5000 kg flour, 1250 kg ghee (local cooking oil) and 1250 kg lentils distributed to families at Jalozai camp and New Shamshatu.

Medical supplies delivered to the clinics at Jalozai and New Shamshatu.

Food parcels and quilts distributed to street children in Peshawar who are outside the aid network and forced into child labour in the carpet industry often working an 18-hour day.
 
February 2002
Continued funding of the hospitals in the refugee camps, set up by Child Advocacy International with the help of Jemima Khan Afghan Refugee Appeal, which will treat 200 patients each week.
 
May 2002
Further funding to Child Advocacy International to facilitate the set up of a medical unit at Shalman camp to which patients are referred for specialist paediatric and gynaecological treatments.

Distribution of relief items to 1230 families in Tribal Areas, Peshawar: each receiving 1 kg green tea, 5 kg ghee, 5 kg sugar and 20 kg wheat flour.
 
October 2002
Medical aid project providing clinics and specialist medical care to Afghan refugee women and children in Pakistan.
 
July-December 2002
Over 200,000 items of clothes kindly donated by Tesco Stores and distributed to refugees, particularly to orphaned children.
 
28 November 2002
Distribution of packages to 1900 families at Shalman: each receiving 2 kg lentils, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg dates, lady's shawl, woollen sweater, socks, woollen cap and muffler for the children.
May 2003
Funding to Child Advocacy International to supplement existing facilities – a mini hospital and part-time mobile outpatient services – which continue to take about 1000 referrals each month.
